“Do you want to build a show, man?” The North Spencer Elementary Performing Arts Club certainly does!
Students are working hard to bring “Frozen Jr.” to life this weekend. Students have been rehearsing all week, even as their fellows complete set work in the auditorium of Heritage Hills High School. As of Thursday’s rehearsal, some set pieces were still “a bit of a fixer upper” but progress was coming along swiftly.
The finished product will be an all-around immersive experience, with some young actors filling the aisles during certain scenes or providing surround sound during choral moments. There may even be snow!
The first showing will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5. The curtain will rise twice the next day, with 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. showings on Saturday. Tickets are $6 and available at www.etix.com or at the door.
Based on the immensely popular Disney film, “Frozen Jr.” takes its cues from the 2018 adaptation for Broadway. Avid fans may note some minor differences, including a few new songs added to the old familiar repertoire.
The core of the story still rings through, however. Audiences are sure to enjoy the adventures of sisters Elsa and Anna as they grow and find love and acceptance between each other. Olaf and fan favorites will be along for the ride as well.
