On June 10, treat yourself to fresh dairy, fruits and vegetables

What is the occasion? Our parish family invites you, friends and neighbors of St. Boniface Parish, St. Meinrad Parish, and Harrison Township in Spencer County, to share in the blessings arriving on June 10 at St. Meinrad Catholic Church. Fresh dairy, fruits and vegetables will be available for your home or to share with friends or neighbors.Every day, we are learning new ways to live with COVID-19 as a community. Together, we lend a hand up, whether for ourselves or for others. Prepackaged dairy items from Prairie Farms Dairy and fruits and vegetables from the  USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Program will be available for pick-up, drive-through only, on June 10, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Central Time, in the town of St. Meinrad. 

Area agency representatives and individuals arriving for pick-up are to enter the parish grounds no earlier than 4 p.m. Central Time, at the intersection of 5th Street N and Brewery Street, to ensure that transports can safely park and volunteers can set skids in place for distribution. Volunteers will be present to greet patrons, guide pick-up lines, and load agency transport vehicles and individual vehicles. For the safety of volunteers and to adhere to COVID-19 Social Distancing Guidelines, individual patrons are to remain in vehicles while being loaded with packaged items. 

Agencies or 501(c)(3) representatives with reserved packages of ten or more are to enter in the identified pick-up lanes.

Individuals wishing to receive prepackaged dairy, fruits, and vegetables, are allowed a five package maximum of each, and are to enter a designated pick-up line beginning at the intersection of 5th Street N. and Brewery Street.

Dairy Box includes:

1 French Onion Dip
1 Sour Cream
1 Cream Cheese (8 oz)
1 Cottage Cheese (24 oz)
2 Chocolate Milks (14 oz)
2 Strawberry Milks (14 oz)
2 Gallons of 2% Milk


Fruit and Vegetable Food Box Include:

Apples
Oranges
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Onions
Potatoes
Lettuce
Asparagus
Cabbage

COVID Farm Assistance Program (CFAP) and Prairie Farms Dairy aim to provide direct relief to rural communities affected by the economic impact of COVID-19, including farmers facing challenges due to the pandemic. With assistance from the USDA, fresh dairy, fruit, and vegetable products are available to the general public regardless of income or need, while supplies last.

The next Farmers to Families Food Box date is June 24, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Local agencies wishing to reserve prepackaged items should contact a program volunteer at www.sbcatholic.church/cfap | www.smcatholic.church/cfap.

On June 10, 300 dairy and 300 fruit and vegetable packages are reserved and available for parish families, friends, and neighbors in Harrison Township. Also, today and tomorrow, over one thousand units of dairy, fruit, and vegetable food will be disturbed by area agencies to be shared throughout Spencer County. Including:

  • Chrisney Baptist Church  – Wednesday, June 10, 6 p.m. while supplies last
  • Grandview Civic Center – to be announced
  • Hatfield United Methodist Church – to be announced
  • Lincoln Hills Development Corporation in Rockport, meet LHDC Resource Coordinator at the west side of LDHC Community Service Center (yellow building) – Thursday, June 11, 5 – 6 p.m.
  • Rockport Housing Authority – to be announced
  • Spencer County Council on Aging 
    • Heritage Hills High School – Thursday, June 11, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at loading dock
    • South Spencer High School Thursday, June 11, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at loading dock
  • Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Gentryville – Wednesday, June 10, 6:30 p.m. 

Spencer county residents are encouraged to contact local agencies listed for more information for on-site pick-up. 

Thanks to the Service and Outreach Commission of the parish family of St. Boniface Catholic Church,  and St. Meinrad Catholic Church, parish staff and volunteers, area families, and local businesses, including Automated Routing, Klem’s Signs & Restyling, Spencer County Purdue Extension, Spencer Country Sheriff’s Department, and Superior Ag are lending a hand up to area farmers in making today’s opportunity a reality for our parish family, friends, and neighbors.
