Perry County nonprofit, Paddle Perry put on a kayak demonstration for co-workers at Saint Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad, on June 22, as part of the archabbey’s wellness program. Kelly Jo Hess, Paddle Perry president, spoke on key points of the water sport, including the importance of safety and life jacket awareness. She also discussed ways the group has been able to give back to the Perry County community, such as leading Ohio River clean sweeps and organizing trash pickups and shore sweeps at local lakes and ponds. Paddle Perry member, Coy Smith, demonstrated various techniques on the stand-up paddle board and spoke on the health benefits of kayaking. Paddle Perry’s next big event will be Pack-a-Dam Lock (PADL) on July 31. For more information on this or any other of Paddle Perry’s events follow on Facebook and at paddleperry.com
