Paul O. Engelbrecht, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. He was born in Evanston on June 29, 1939, to Oswin and Agnes (Wittman) Engelbrecht.
Paul graduated from Chrisney High School and went on to join the Army. He retired from Kimball International after many dedicated years of service. Paul was also a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Paul enjoyed playing euchre, throwing darts, and going bowling.
He is survived by his children, Regina (Joe) Howe of Evanston, Teague Engelbrecht of Evanston, and Carmen (Ryan) Linne of Santa Claus; sisters, Juanita Weil of Tell City, Ruth Ann (Si) Van Asperen of Fort Wayne, and Doris Schauberger of Tell City; brother, Kenneth Lottes of Mayer, AZ; five grandchildren, Alicia Mehringer, Haley Howe, Destiny Howe, Payton Engelbrecht and Gunner Engelbrecht; and one great-grandchild, Kaden Mehringer.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Brown, Margaret Smith, Pauline Bandy, and Judith Sweeney.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, April 22, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston. Pastor Steve Shank officiated.
