The South Spencer girls basketball team was trying to dethrone the queens of the hardwood, so to speak.
And it proved to be a difficult challenge for the Lady Rebels.
Despite staying within striking distance in the first half, South Spencer eventually fell to defending state champion and No. 2 ranked Forest Park 47-23 in the Class 2A, Sectional 48 title tilt last Saturday night, February 4th at Buechler Arena in Ferdinand.
“I’m very proud of the kids,” said Lady Rebel Coach, Brent Mathew. “I can’t say enough about those seniors, and what they have done for our program. They’ve won 47 games in four years and you’ve got to go 16 years, adding them all together, to get that many wins before them. They had a very good career.”
