Luce Elementary students and families braved stormy spring weather Thursday afternoon to celebrate this year’s Health Science and Art Fair at the school. Student projects were on display for perusal, as well as a number of vendor booths from local companies and organizations. Health was a major theme of the evening, with Lincoln Hills Development Corporation offering kids a chance to explore their chops in dentistry with a giant pairs of dentures. Students were challenged with creating plaque on these plastic teeth with permanent markers, then handing those teeth off to other students with toothbrushes. The exercise highlighted just how many places a toothbrush can miss if one is not thorough.

Chris Harney Realty had a different challenge for visitors to its booth. Kids were offered a chance to show off their strength with a hand held device, measuring their grip strength.

Activities and attendance offered students a chance to participate in a raffle at the end of the event, complete with many prizes. These included two bicycles, a South Spencer High School Football Summer Camp Pass, a pass to Evansville Skyzone, a Rockport Pool Family Pass and a sports pass for SSHS for the 2025-26 School Year.

After hiding black spots in obscure areas, these models were handed off to each other to brush them clean. The exercise was aimed at showing how easy it is to overlook some parts of the teeth during regular cleaning.
