Richie Ann(VanWinkle) Coomes, 70, of Rockport, passed away on Wednes- day, February 12, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
Richie was born in Rockport on August 5, 1954, to Richard VanWinkle and Naomi (Campbell) Roy.
Richie retired from Johnson Control (now RMI) at AK Steel, where she worked in security. She loved playing cards, especially Texas Hold’em, and pitching horseshoes.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Rockport American Le- gion Post 254 Auxiliary, and Jacks Wild Poker Club.
In addition to her parents, Richie was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas VanWinkle, Terry VanWinkle, Clyde Bowman Jr., and Dennis Bowman.
Richie is survived by her husband, David “Tony” Coomes; her children, Amanda (Oscar) Alvarez and Brian Coomes; her grandchildren, Nicolas Coomes, Alex Veliz, Cris- tian Veliz, Kelsea Coomes, Bryer Coomes, Amora Alvarez, and Silas Alvarez; great-granddaughter, Elliana Coomes; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services were held Monday, February 17, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Carl Jones officiating. Friends may send a condolence to the family at www.BoultinghouseFuneralHome.com.
