Roger Dale Atchison, 91, of Rockport, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, at The Waters of Rockport.
Roger was born in Morgantown, Kentucky on April 18, 1932, to the late Eugene and Maudie (Lindsey) Atchison.
Roger was a member of Free Zion Church. He had worked at Whirlpool, retiring after 30+ years of service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, working on his lawn, and square dancing. For 17 years straight, he went to “The Barn” in Rosine, Kentucky every Friday night to listen to bluegrass music.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his sons, Everett Dale Atchison, Donald Atchison, and Dewey Atchison; his daughter, Tammy Atchison; his great-granddaughter, Letty Atchison; and his grandson-in-law, Barry Shourds.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Theresa Shourds; his grandson, Dale Atchison and his wife, Rachel; his great-grandchildren, Reily Froeschl and her husband, Oliver, Daley Atchison, Clancy Atchison, Gracie Shourds, Mason Shourds, and Emmie Shourds; his great-great-grandson, Maxwell Froeschl; his siblings, Gusty, Eugene, and Clay “Rex”, and his daughter-in-law, Tina Atchison.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, November 24, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Josh Dimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Hackleman Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
