Rose Jeanette (Jane) Ebelhar, 83, of Evansville, formerly of Rockport and Owensboro, KY passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at The Waters of Rockport in Rockport, after suffering for years with severe COPD.

She was born November 18, 1939, in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late James and Beulah Peak.

Jane was a busy mother of six but managed to keep an immaculate house and canned countless jars of garden vegetables. She was also a good delegator of garden and household chores that helped her children become better adults. As her children entered adulthood, she worked at Whirlpool, retiring after 15 years, and continued her love of Elvis and any good tap-your-foot music. Sadly, in passing, Jane most certainly took with her the best stories of concerts she and her sister, Marie, attended and most probably vowed to stay mute about. Jane was an avid reader of western romances and undoubtedly passed on a love of reading to many of her children and grandchildren.

Janie, as some knew her, was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beulah Peak; brother Roger Peak, and twin sisters Anna Lee Payne and Nora Marie Ebelhar; and the father of her children, Donald (Donnie) Ebelhar.

Survivors include her sons, Dwayne (Cathy) Ebelhar, David Ebelhar (Larry Donoho), Kevin Ebelhar (Renee Chappell), Philip Ebelhar and Kelly (Theresa) Ebelhar;  daughter, Donna (Joe) Polaski; along with 20 grandkids and 36 great-grandkids; her brothers, Dickie Peak and Tony (Betty Jean) Peak of Owensboro, KY; many nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Renee Partridge of Rockport.

A very special thanks goes out to Intrepid Hospice of Evansville, who started in-home care, then followed “Rose” to The Waters of Rockport. Both establishments gave unwavering care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association or Intrepid Hospice of Evansville.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport has been entrusted with care.

Friends may send a condolence to the family at www.BoultinghouseFuneralHome.com.
