Sandra Jean Leslie, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Golden Living Center- Woodlands, of Newburgh, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on April 7, 1947, to the late James and Naomi (Hamilton) Leslie.
She attended South Central Elementary School and graduated from Rockport High School, Class of 1965. After graduating, she attended Lockyear Business College until she decided she wanted to be a teacher. She took classes at Brescia College and graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College. She taught elementary school in Muhlenberg County before coming home to help take care of her nieces and nephew. She loved her family and took pride in taking care of them.
Sandra was a sweet, caring, loving and compassionate person. She got her CNA license and worked at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rockport and Woodlands Nursing Home. She was a member of Larkin Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Leslie; her sister, Brenda Schraner; her niece, Shelli Schraner, her nephew, Michael Swindle, and his wife, Misty, and their children, Braden and Gunner; and her niece, Beth Wink Jones, and her children, Kennedy and Aiden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Debra Leslie Wink, and her nephew, David Schraner.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Patronville. Boultinghouse Funeral Home of Rockport has been entrusted with care.
