Sharon Bennett, 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 23, 2023.
Sharon was born in Rockport, on June 14, 1941, to the late John Edwin and Virgie Marie (Sutton) Ayer.
She graduated from Rockport High School and worked for many years at the family business, Tig’s Café. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Sharon was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, John Ayer; her twin sister, Sheila Gunn, her great-grandson, Isaiah Horn; and her longtime companion, Frankie Embrey.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Eric Bennett, of Rockport and Patrick Bennett (Dawn) of Newburgh; her brother, Joe Ayer of Rockport; her grandchildren, Carrie Bennett and Willie Bennett; and her great-granddaughter, Gracie Sherfield; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank her hospice nurse, Robin, and beloved family, Suzanne Crickmer and Carrie Bennett for their loving care during her final days.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 28, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Matthew Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
