Sharon Louise Powell, 73, of Rockport, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh surrounded by family.
Sharon was born in Spencer County on October 1, 1950, to the late Paul Sr. and Thelma (Weatherholt) Powell.
She was a member of Bethel Christian Center in Reo, where she also played saxophone. She was a beautician, business owner, philanthropist, storyteller and musician.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her siblings, Ellen Powell and Paul Powell, Jr.; and her life-long friend, Paula Daniel.
Sharon is survived by her nephew, Shawn Robertson and his wife, Natasha; her great-nieces, Lillyin Rose and Callie Lynn; her great-nephews, Christian Alexander and Elias Lewis; her sister-in-law, Karen Powell, and her children, Charlene, Misty, and Mary; and her friend, Pat Roll.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Walter Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Hackleman Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, at the funeral home.
