Shirley E. Jones, 75, of Rockport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Shirley was born in Spencer County, on February 25, 1946, to the late Arlie M. and Ruby (Abshier) Jones.
At eighteen years of age, Shirley began serving in the United States Army. He served for four years, being stationed in Germany and attaining the rank of E-4.
He worked as Transportation Supervisor for South Spencer School Corporation for 31 years, and had also worked for Matthews Bros.
Shirley attended Bethel Christian Center in Reo. He loved his family dearly, and he liked to hunt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna (Henderson) Jones; his daughter, Gail Butler and her husband, Bill; his son, Jeffrey Jones; his sisters, Wanda Stepro, Norma Goodwin, and Deloreus Wangler; his brother, Glenn Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Shirley was preceded in death by his brothers, Roland, Fred and Jerry Jones.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 15, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Grandview.
Visitation is 4 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Luce Township Fire Department.
