Simone Marie Backer Campbell, 74, of Vevay, entered this life on November 30, 1947, in Tell City. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Simon and Anna Marie Stilwell Backer.
Simone was raised in Troy, and was a 1965 graduate of Vevay High School where she was in band and choir. Simone attended Ball State University and received her business degree from Watterson College in Louisville, KY. She later received her nursing degree from Ivy Tech Community College. Simone was a former employee for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay for 10 years. She was also employed at Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay for five years, and as a slot attendant and later for security at Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence for 20 years.
She was a member of Vevay American Legion Post No. 185 Ladies Auxiliary and 4-H Club. Simone enjoyed her life to the fullest and loved fishing, gardening, crafts and going to the beach with her family.
Simone passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at her sister’s residence in Madison.
Survivors include her son, Danny Campbell of Vevay; her sister, Veronica (Robert) Anderson of Madison; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Her parents and sister, JoAnn Connolly, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Simone’s Life was held at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, on June 11.
