A Soil Health Workshop will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds, located at 99 Roy Fenn Drive in Tell City. The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. CST and end at 3 p.m.
Speakers will be Rick Clark, a farmer from Williamsport, and Wayne Fredricks, an Iowa farmer from the American Soybean Association. The topics will include:
• How can I reduce risks while increasing my farm income? Get all the details of one Indiana farmer’s approach to reducing his cost of production and increasing his net income/acre.
• How does soil health pay? An Iowa farmer shares the nuts and bolts on how he adopted cover crops on his farm and explains how he makes soil health pay for his farm. The Southwest Area Soil Health Team members will give a live soil health demonstration using the Soil Health Trailer. Sara Dzimianski with Perry County Purdue Extension will present Pesticide Mini Bulks for those seeking PARP credit and there is a $10 fee. A catered lunch will be served.
To attend the Nov. 16 workshop your reservation is required by Friday, November 5, online at https://www.ccsin.org/registration-other-events. A registration fee of $5 will be collected at the door. A limited number of reservations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will be required to follow COVID requirements at that time, so a facemask and distancing may be required.
The workshop is coordinated by the Perry/Spencer County Soil & Water Conservation District, Perry County Purdue Extension, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Indiana State Department of Agriculture, and Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative. Program sponsors are Superior Ag and John’s Tractor Service.
