Spencer County Sheriff’s Department

Ran off road

Sharman Darrington, 26, of Semmes, AL, was eastbound on SR 66 near Grandview when, he later told authorities, he fell asleep at the wheel, causing him to run off the roadway. An officer with the Sheriff’s Department witnessed the accident and reports that Darrington’s 2011 Infinity M37 rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a ditch on the west side of the roadway. The officer immediately made contact with Darrington, who was able to remove himself from his vehicle and refused medical evaluation by EMS. Though Darrington was not injured in the April 11, 6:41 a.m. crash, damage to his vehicle was estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Right angle collision

Shannon Harrington, 32, of Maceo, KY, was eastbound on SR 66 near Richland, at the intersection of County Road 900 West, when her 2013 Chevrolet Equinox collided with a 2007 Cadillac DTS as the Cadillac was attempting to cross the intersection. The impact caused Harrington’s vehicle to roll multiple times before coming to a stop on its driver’s side. A witness to the accident informed authorities that the Cadillac, driven by 78-year-old Donna Vogt of Rockport, had failed to yield to Harrington’s vehicle, causing the accident. Neither Harrington nor Vogt were injured in the April 14, 3 p.m. collision. Damages were estimated between $50,000-100,000, and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
