Rear end collision
Thomas Summerville, 50, of Baton Rouge, LA, was stopped on SR 161 in Rockport, yielding for oncoming traffic so that he could turn left onto Base Road, when his 2020 Nissan Altima was struck from behind by a 2011 Ford Fusion driven by 22-year-old Kane Emerson of Owensboro, KY. Emerson advised police he had looked away from the road for a second and was unable to stop upon noticing that Summerville’s vehicle had stopped. Neither driver was injured in the March 22, 11:29 a.m. collision, but damages were estimated between $25,000-50,000. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
