Failure to yield results in collision

Austin Smith, 35, of Evansville, was westbound on SR 161, when Maggie McDaniel, 18, of Boonville, attempted to make a left turn westbound onto SR 161 from the parking lot of Jumping Jacks gas station, Rockport. McDaniel, driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and swiped the rear left tire of Smith’s 2014 Jeep Wrangler. No injuries were reported on scene. The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m., December 15. Damages were estimated between $1,001 and $2,500. Neither vehicle was towed.

Tire failure causes vehicle damage

Teagan Granderson, 20, of Lamar, was southbound on County Road 800 East at the intersection with SR 70. Shortly after crossing the intersection, the front left tire of Granderson’s 2010 GMC Canyon lost air pressure. Granderson over-corrected to the right, struck a ditch, road sign, and embankment. Significant damage to the front and right side of Granderson’s vehicle was reported, although there was no damage to the road sign. Damages in the December 17 accident were estimated between $2,501 and $5,000.

Impact results from unsafe backing in private drive

Jody Kessinger, 64, of Evanston, driving her 2017 Jeep Renegade, attempted to back out of her own driveway and collided with the front driver side of a second vehicle parked in her driveway. Neither vehicle was towed in the December 20 collision, although minor damage was reported to the passenger side of Kessinger’s Jeep. Damage was estimated between $5,001 and $10,000.
