Driver charged with OWI after crash
Kelsey Haynes, 32, of Owensboro, was charged with operating while intoxicated and having an open alcohol beverage container while operating after running off the road last Tuesday morning. According to the report, Haynes was eastbound on Old SR 66 near Richland when she ran off the roadway at a curve, striking a ditch and traveling across a secondary road before striking another ditch. Haynes allegedly admitted to police that she had been drinking and smoking marijuana prior to the accident, and officers say open containers were found in her 2008 Toyota Sienna. A preliminary breath test determined Haynes’ blood alcohol content to be 0.24; results from a certified blood test are pending. Damage to her Sienna in the July 7, 1:55 a.m. crash were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Sleepy driver
Eva Leibering, 22, of Cannelton, was northbound on SR 545 near Grandview when, she later told police, she fell asleep at the wheel and left the roadway. Her 2013 Ford Escape then struck a slight embankment and a construction sign before coming to a stop. Leibering was not injured in the June 24, 4:49 a.m. accident, but total damages were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
