Driver severely injured after wreck
At 12:24 a.m. on Sunday, April 25, a Deputy with the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department responded to a one vehicle crash that occurred on Old State Road 45 near Rockport. A Rockport Police officer who responded shortly before requested EMS for the driver, 35-year-old Kyle A. Young of Rockport, who had sustained a deep laceration to his head as well as several other injuries. An investigation determined that Young was traveling southwest on Old State Road 45 when he crossed the centerline and left the roadway; his 2017 Jeep Renegade then struck a ditch and the culvert for a private drive. Young appeared to be confused at the scene and was transported to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville due to his head trauma. An Indiana State Toxicology Blood Draw was performed on Young. Though official results of the blood draw were still pending as of press time, preliminary results showed his blood alcohol content to be approximately 0.216. Total damages from the wreck were estimated between $50,000-100,000.
