Ran off road

Joseph Harney, 17, of Rockport, was eastbound on SR 66 approaching Forest Drive when, he later told authorities, he fell asleep at the wheel of his 1996 Ford F150 and struck a concrete culvert before running off the road. Harney injured his arm in the crash but informed police he would be seeking medical attention later. Damage in the October 20, 7:16 a.m. accident was estimated between $2,500-5,000.

Rear-end collision

Shawn Zuelly, 41, of Tell City, was eastbound on SR 66 near the 500 West crossroad at Richland when, he later told authorities, he slowed his vehicle to look at a fire in a nearby field and was rear-ended by a 2010 Ford F250 driven by 30-year-old Timothy Daniel of Owensboro, KY. Daniel told authorities he did not notice that Zuelly had slowed down before the collision. Neither driver was injured in the October 23, 3:21 p.m. accident, but damage was estimated between $1,000-2,500.

Same direction sideswipe

Chad Schneider, 46, of Richland, was westbound on SR 66 in Richland when his 2015 Jeep Wrangler was passed by a 2000 Honda Civic driven by 21-year-old Braden Oldham, also of Richland. According to the report, Oldham then cut back into the right lane too soon and side-swiped the front bumper of Schneider’s vehicle, before striking a guardrail. His vehicle then crossed the median and into the eastbound lanes, went under a guardrail on the eastbound side of the roadway, and traveled down into an embankment. Oldham told authorities he did not remember what had happened in the collision and was transported to the hospital for complaint of pain in his head. Schneider was not injured. Damages in the October 24, 6:40 a.m. accident were estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Rear-end collision

Daniel Evans, 67, of Chandler, had slowed his 2011 Chevrolet HHR on SR 161 near Rockport for traffic that had stopped in front of him, when he was rear-ended by a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 50-year-old Melissa Maddox of Brinkley, AR. Brinkley told authorities she had attempted to swerve to avoid hitting Evans’ vehicle, but was unable to do so. Neither driver was injured in the October 24, 7:34 a.m. collision, but damage was estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Sleepy driver 

Matthew Murray, 24, of Tennyson, wast eastbound on SR 66 near the intersection of 450 W in Richland when, he later told authorities, he fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the center line, striking the rear tire of a flatbed trailer on a 2019 Freightliner driven by 35-year-old Walter Mead of East Palestine, OH. The semi was able to be driven from the scene, but Murray’s 2006 Mini Cooper was towed, with damage estimated between $2,500-5,000. Neither driver was injured in the October 25, 2:45 p.m. crash.
