Run-off
Debbie Harris, 61, of Grandview, was attempting to turn left onto Old State Road 245 from SR 66 when, due to dense fog, she instead turned directly into a ditch. Harris was not injured in the October 13, 5:18 a.m. accident. Damage to her 2018 Kia Optima was estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Rear-end collision
Ethan Barton, 30, of Boonville, had come to a stop on SR 66 near Richland for flaggers in a construction zone, when the trailer attached to his 2006 Ford F350 was struck from behind by a 2010 Toyota Camry driven by 42-year-old Joshua Blair of Owensboro, KY. Blair allegedly told authorities he had looked down to grab a cigarette right before the accident, and when he looked up, it was too late to avoid striking the trailer. Neither driver was injured in the October 12, 11:05 a.m. collision, but total damages were estimated between $10,000-25,000.
Ran off road
Tyler Hanloh, 16, of Tell City, was southbound on Fulda Shortcut Road when, he later told authorities, he ran off the right side of the roadway and into a deep ditch, where the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving rolled over on its side. Hanloh was not injured in the October 11, 3:15 p.m. run-off, but damage to the Jeep was estimated between $2,500-5,000.
Rear-end collision
Laura Campbell, 38, of Lincoln City, was stopped at the four-way stop at SR 162 and 62 near Santa Claus when her 2011 Ford Fusion was struck from behind by a 2013 Lincoln MKT driven by 34-year-old Amy Roy of Boonville. Roy later told police she did not notice that Campbell had stopped. Neither driver was injured in the October 10, 11:10 a.m. accident, but total damages were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
One driver injured, one cited after collision
At approximately 6:35 p.m. on October 5, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Department responded to a collision that had occurred between a semi and a pickup truck at the intersection of CR 300 N and CR 700 W near Richland. Upon arriving at the scene, the deputy spoke with the driver of the semi, 59-year-old Kenneth Spaetti of Rockport, who allegedly admitted to rolling through the stop sign at the intersection and striking a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado that he had not noticed. The driver of the Silverado, 23-year-old Chase Zimmerman of Richland, was transported by Spencer County EMS to the hospital for pain to his chest and collarbone due to airbag deployment. Spaetti was cited for disregarding a stop sign. Total damages in the collision were estimated between $25,000-50,000.
Ran off road
Brittany Lambert, 33, of Newburgh, had just pulled out of a private driveway on 5th Street in Richland when she ran off the roadway and struck a utility pole. Lambert was not injured in the October 5, 9:33 p.m. accident, but total damages were estimated between $5,000-10,000.
Disregarding stop sign leads to collision
Karen McCormick, 60, of Tell City was northbound on SR 545 near Grandview when, at the intersection of CR 950 N, a westbound 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by 26-year-old Tyler Franchville of Derby allegedly disregarded a stop sign and proceeded through the intersection. McCormick was unable to stop her 2014 Toyota Corolla in time and crashed into the driver’s side of Franchville’s car. McCormick sustained an ankle injury but refused EMS transport, planning instead to go to the hospital by private vehicle. Franchville, who suffered an airbag abrasion to his face but refused EMS treatment, was cited for disregarding a stop sign. According to the report, Franchville’s vehicle left approximately 92-foot skidmarks on the roadway where he had attempted to stop but was unable to do so before proceeding through the stop. Total damages in the October 3, 4:23 a.m. accident were estimated between $10,000-25,000.
