The Santa Claus Museum & Village is celebrating Earth Day on Thursday, April 20. The special day is perfect for Home Schools and Child Care Providers. Activities run from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Central time. The free educational event is held in partnership with Spencer County Soil & Water District, Vallonia Nursery and Lincoln State Park. Each participant will receive free seeds for pollinators from the Soil & Water District, a free pecan tree seedling from Vallonia Nursery, information about seeds for pollinators, information on how to plant and care for the pecan tree seedling and enjoy other activities for being kind to the earth!
Director Kathleen Crews explains, “Part of our mission statement is to preserve the natural history of the town of Santa Claus. Since pecan trees and wild flowers are native to Spencer County, it makes sense to include them in our Earth Day celebration.”
There is no admission charge for guests to visit the Santa Claus Museum & Village. While on site, children may want to get an early start writing their letters to Santa Claus in the historic Santa Claus Post Office. The Santa Claus Museum & Village is a not-for-profit organization which seeks to preserve the natural and cultural history of the town of Santa Claus and perpetuate the tradition of answering thousands of children’s letters to Santa.
