Stephen Ray Byrne, 77, of Chrisney, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at his home.
He was born in Evansville on January 19, 1944, to the late Bernard and Mary Kay (Haynes) Byrne.
Stephen graduated from Richwoods Community High School in Peoria County, Illinois and Northwestern School of Taxidermy. He served in the United States Army as a Ranger in Vietnam. He was an accomplished artist, working with Grandview Aluminum and having his work published in Life Magazine and Playboy.
He is survived by his significant other of 15 years, Debbie Burkeen; siblings, Sue Worden and her husband, Dennis, Mary Jo Huber and her husband, Joe, and Stanton Byrne and his wife, Gloria; stepdaughter, Tameria Graham and her husband, John; grandchildren, Delea Graham, Jennifer Jones, Marrisa Eye, Jill Helfert, and Kara Huff Batie; four great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews; and special friend, Shawn Dempsey.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home Youngblood Chapel at 36 East Market St. Chrisney, with Pastor Bob Duley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chrisney.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 22, and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23, at the Funeral Home in Chrisney.
