On Tuesday, July 30, at approximately 1:13 p.m., Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident on Silverdale Road just north of State Road 66 in Rockport. It was reported that the female driver was trapped inside a Honda Odyssey.
The vehicle was northbound on Silverdale Road when it left the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the Honda stuck a tree and went down an embankment. A juvenile passenger was able to exit the vehicle, but the driver, Ayla Romans, 18, had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The juvenile was transported to a hospital via ambulance with non life threatening injuries. Romans was transported by Helicopter to the hospital.
Assisting agencies included Rockport Police Department, Ohio Township Fire Department, Luce Township Fire Department, Spencer County Ambulance Service, St. Vincent Stat Flight, and Bosecker’s Towing.
