The University of Southern Indiana is now accepting applications for its 2020 Connect with Southern Indiana program, a leadership program sponsored by USI and geared toward individuals in the for-profit and non-profit sectors across a nine-county region in Southwest Indiana. The program highlights creative problem-solving skills, divergent and analytical thinking, idea generation, communication skills and strategic entrepreneurship from a community development perspective.
Connect with Southern Indiana has evolved over the years to remain up to date with new trends. The program’s main educational focus is a social entrepreneurship model in which participants seek innovative solutions to a variety of problems or needs. USI faculty lead the content portion of the program and participants acquire valuable information about the region from local leaders.
Residents from Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties are encouraged to apply. Those selected will participate in a total of 10 full-day sessions including one overnight retreat over a four month period and are required to develop a collaborative project that will be presented at the conclusion of the program on May 20, 2020. The 2020 program dates are: January 17 and 31, February 14, 27 and 28 (overnight stay required), March 6 and 20, April 3 and 24 and May 1.
Participants or their employers are asked to cover half the cost ($500) of the $1,000 program fee. USI covers the remaining $500. The program fee covers facilitation, meals, location rental fees, overnight accommodations, and all program materials. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available. Participants will need to provide their transportation to and from sessions and volunteer time to attend sessions and work on projects.
