William Arvell “Bill” Coy, of Rockport, died peacefully on Monday June 3, 2024, surrounded by family. Bill was the eldest child of Arvell Darious “A.D.” Coy and Artie Adkission Coy. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Sandra D. (Gordon) Coy, to whom he was a devoted husband for nearly 56 years.

Bill was a generous and caring man, the kind of person who would do anything to help anyone. He loved to duck hunt, fish, and camp down on the river as a child growing up in Stanley, Kentucky. Serving his country in the Army, he was stationed overseas during the Vietnam War. Bill held many jobs throughout his life including NSA, Barmet, and as an over-the-road driver for his brother-in-law’s company. Most notable in Bill’s work life were the jobs with the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department as a reserve policeman and Jail Commander.

In addition to his wife, Sandi, Bill is survived by his daughter, Misti (Coy) Clark of Rockport, Alex Blackgrove, who is like a son, of Huntingburg, and his daughter, Nicole (Coy) Glover of Lewisport; grandchildren, Danielle and TJ, and several great-grandchildren. Also, part of the family is Coco who can always be found wagging his tail waiting to sit in the swing with his momma and daddy. Forever in their hearts was Frankie – the couple’s beloved Chihuahua for many years until his passing in 2018.

Also surviving are his sister, Mary (Coy) Hundley, of Stanley, and brothers Richard Coy and James Coy of Owensboro, and many nieces and nephews.

Bill’s parents, sister Martha (Coy) Jones, and brother, Charles Durbin Coy, preceded him in death.

Visitation was held at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, and again on Monday, June 10, from 12 p.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Boultinghouse Funeral Home. A burial followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport.

In lieu of flowers donations were made to Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital. Condolences to the family can be made at www.BoultinghouseFuneralHome.com.
