Yates Roberts, Sr., 80, of Rockport, passed away suddenly on Friday morning, October 13, 2023, at Owensboro Health Hospital surrounded by his family.
Yates was born October 9, 1943, to the late William H. and Sarah Elizabeth Dixon Roberts.
He was an over the road truck driver for Overnite, and also worked for Fiberfil and UPS. He loved to drive and would help anyone with his work van and trailer. He loved going to Evansville auctions and bringing back cars and trucks. He always helped take the dock out down at the bluff. You could always find him in the garage working on a truck or lawnmower. He liked to watch and feed the animals in his yard.
He was a Christian man who loved the Lord Jesus Christ and would witness to others. His passing has left a great hole in his families’ hearts. His memories will be cherished by many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Dorretha and Jerry Sadler.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; his two sons, Lee (Kim) Roberts, Jr. and Dokken Dodson; a daughter, Rima; and grandchildren, Jacob, Mitchell, David, Sarah, Julie and Melanie.
Funeral services were held October 16 at Gibson and Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel.
