Who doesn’t love a parade?

If you count parades among things you love to watch — or just want the opportunity to watch something besides Judge Judy — you’re in luck!

The Grandview Civic Association plans to host a very modified Grandview Fall Festival (their 75th), complete with a parade on Saturday, September 12. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. with line up at the Grandview Boat Dock. According to Civic President David Grose, REACT will handle the line-up and traffic control. Anyone interested in entering something in the parade should contact Grandview Clerk Treasurer Donna Burrows at 812-649-2573.

The parade will conclude at the Grandview Civic Center where drive thru barbecue chicken dinners will be available starting at 11 a.m.

The menu for adults includes a half BBQ chicken, American potato salad, baked beans, slaw and two cookies. Children’s dinners include chicken nuggets or tenders, applesauce, chips and a cookie for $5.

Serving will continue until 2 p.m. or until all the food is gone.

“We will have two lanes for meal pick-up,” Grose explained. It should be pretty quick and efficient. We also have brand new, hi-tech energy efficient grills [instead of barrels).” Every worker will be assigned one task with runners to deliver the meals to cars and all workers will be masked and gloved.

“We still need lots of volunteers,” Grose added. Anyone interested in helping out should call Betty Grose at 812-649-4434.
