Ran off road

James Mosley, 19, of Mt. Vernon, was attempting to turn left off of CR 300 N onto CR 1000 W near Richland when, he later told authorities, he turned short at the T-intersection and drove into a ditch. Mosley was not injured in the November 27, 5:30 a.m. accident. Damage to his 2005 GM Sierra was estimated between $1,000-2,500.

Driver cited for leaving the scene of an accident

Spencer County Dispatch requested units to CR 1250 N, just east of SR 62 in Chrisney, at 12:40 a.m. on November 23, in reference to a vehicle rollover accident. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer lying on the driver’s side and blocking both lanes of travel. Firefighters and EMS assisted in inspecting the vehicle for victims, but no one was found inside. An investigation determined the Mountaineer was registered to Angela Jennings, of Richland. Jennings informed deputies her son, 31-year-old Matthew Jennings of Tell City, was the primary driver of the vehicle. Authorities attempted to locate Jennings, who eventually contacted the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department later that day. During an interview, Jennings allegedly told deputies he had fallen asleep at the wheel of the Mountaineer and, because he did not have a cell phone, left the scene to walk to a nearby friend’s home to ask for help. Jennings, who was not injured in the accident, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor.
