Ferdinand Fire Department 

Run to Comfort Inn

Ferdinand Fire Department was called to Comfort Inn at 123 Scenic Hills Court at 11:19 a.m. last Monday, to a general fire alarm. Upon arriving, firefighters found that the detector in room 312 had been tripped due to steam from a shower. Personnel cleaned the detector and reset the system. Four trucks and eight personnel were on scene for approximately 20 minutes.

Man charged with intimidation

Officers were dispatched to 1311 Kundeck Street at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening due to threats being made to someone’s life over the phone. During an investigation officers determined that 51-year-old Scott Taylor of Loogootee had made violent threats to another individual. Taylor was arrested and later booked into the Dubois County Security Center on a level 6 felony charge of intimidation.

OWI arrest after accident

At 2:30 a.m. last Friday, July 17, officers were dispatched to 3799 N Porterville Road for a property damage accident involving one vehicle. The vehicle in question, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, had damaged a gate, the curb and grass near the parking lot. Officers determined that the driver of the Jeep, 22-year-old Biatris Gonzalez of Plainville, was intoxicated. Gonzalez was transported to Jasper Police Department, where she submitted to a certified chemical test which showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.129. Gonzalez was then booked into the security center on charges of OWI with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony; driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor; reckless driving and criminal mischief, both class B misdemeanors.
