Billy Dean Scales, 92, of Rockport, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at his home.
Billy was born in Hatfield on January 25, 1929, to the late Gifford W. and Ellien Leoda (McFall) Scales.
Billy attended Bethel Christian Center and had taught Sunday School for many years. He and his wife Pearl visited Branchville Correctional Facility for over 15 years doing Evangelistic Ministries. Billy owned and operated his home construction business his entire working career.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Scales in 2015; and siblings, Paul Scales and Jerry Scales.
Billy is survived by his children, Beverly Beard and her husband, Terry; Danny Scales and his wife, Jane; Tammy Sosh and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Jennifer, Danny, Christy and Amanda; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Doyle Scales; special friend and neighbor, David Erwin.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, at Bethel Christian Center in Rockport, with Pastor Walter Phillips officiating. Burial is in Alexander Cemetery in Rockport.
Visitation is from 2 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
