Phyllis Pauline (Horn) Small, 91, of Rockport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at home surrounded by family.

Phyllis was born in Eureka on April 30, 1930, to Callie and Dorothy Horn.

She married the love of her life, Johnny Small, on August 19, 1950. They were the devoted parents to their children, Brent (Lori) Small, Janna (Tony) Weaver, and Lanna Turner. Her life was complete with the arrival of her three grandchildren, Brittany Small, Brooke Small and MaQuade Turner, and a step-granddaughter, Tabatha (Chris) Helmick.  She is also the beloved sister to Jake (Mary Ann) Horn and Terry (Mike- deceased) Mueller; aunt to several nieces and nephews; and grandmother to three step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Small, and her brother, Cleon Horn.

When Phyllis wasn’t taking care of her family, she loved to run around with her best friend, JoAnne Horn, and travel all over the world.

Phyllis was a member of the Rockport Eureka 132 Eastern Star for over 70 years. She also spent her time as an active member of the Spencer County Republican Party and won several public offices. Phyllis loved working at the courthouse with her friends and her mother. Her home was always open and a place was set at her kitchen table for anyone who stopped by. Her warm heart and listening ear will be dearly missed by all.

Services were held Saturday, February 5, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Jim Ahl officiating. Her final resting place will be with her family at Shiloh Cemetery.

An Eastern Star service was held Friday evening.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Friends may send a condolence to the family at www.BoultinghouseFuneralHome.com.
