Betty Louise Herrell, 95, of Hatfield, passed away on August 23, 2023, with her loving niece, Betty June Weatherholt, by her side. She was born in Butler County, Kentucky, on May 5, 1928, to Pete and Mary Elizabeth (Swift) Evans. She completed her education through 8th grade while taking care of her family.
She met the love of her life, Forest “Frosty” Herrell, and married him on St. Patrick’s Day, 1951. They had one daughter. Louise managed Hatfield Food Mart for more than 20 years.
She loved spending time at their homes on Lake Barkley, Kentucky, and in Winter Haven, Florida. She spent many hours in their boat fishing, water skiing, and riding the waves. Some of her favorite ways to spend time were reading, crocheting and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Mary Elizabeth (Swift) Evans; infant sister, Marteen Evans; brother, Kenneth Ray Evans; sister, Sadie Mae (Evans) Mack; husband, Forest Dean “Frosty” Herrell; and travel buddy, Mr. Flash (her granddaughter’s dog).
She is survived by her only daughter, Linda Fay (Herrell) and Rick Garrett; granddaughters, Marteen Lynn (Garrett) and Stephen Hoofer and Angela Suzanne (Garrett) and Patrick Wallis; great-grandchildren, Mariah Lynn (Hoofer) and Lucas Sadenwater and Samuel Isaiah Hoofer; sister-in-law, Emily Pickerill; Euchre buddies and lunch friends, Pat Harris and Doris Meece; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Drex Stuart officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, at the funeral home.
