Donald Cedric Sarver, 89, of Richland, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
Donald was born in Spencer County on July 23, 1934, to the late August and Mary (Burroughs) Sarver.
He attended Richland Methodist Church and had been a teacher, principal and counselor. Donald was a master tinkerer and enjoyed fixing vehicles and lawn mowers. He was an avid sports fan and held the single game scoring record of 44 points for South Spencer High School basketball from 1952-1989.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his son, Steven Sarver, and all his siblings.
Donald is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty (Kost) Sarver; his children, Terry Sarver and his wife, Cindy, and Jason Sarver and his wife, Christi; his daughter-in-law Kelly Sarver; his grandchildren, Amee Hadley and her husband, Doug, Leah Powers and her husband, Brandon, Dustin Sarver and his wife, Amanda, Danielle Tucker and her husband, Zach, Nolan Sarver and Alden Sarver; his great-grandchildren, Brooklynn and Jaxson Hadley, Brolen, Bronsen, Bode Powers, Jayden and Julianne Sarver, Bailee and Bennett Tucker; several nieces and nephews.
Services are 5 p.m. Thursday, September 28, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation is from 1 until 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
