Regina Louise (Koch) (Rumage) Forler, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. 

Regina (Jean) was born October 27, 1934, to John M. Koch and Mary A. (Seibert) Koch.

She married James S. Rumage on February 7, 1953. Together they were blessed with nine perfect children. Jim preceded her in death on June 30, 1972. She later married Tyrus V. Forler on April 3, 1977 and gained three bonus children. Tyrus preceded her in death on April 5, 2005.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Edward J. Rumage; grandsons, Robert A. Wise, Robert M. Cantner and a great-grandson, Mason Heckel; her brothers Alfred Koch, Sr., Elmer Koch; and one sister, Dolores Goebel.

Regina was employed for many years in the accounting field working for CPAs and tax firms before forming her own tax business with her daughter Jeannine, J & J Accounting.   She also worked as secretary for St. Martin and St Bernard Catholic churches. She was very active at St. Martin’s Church in Chrisney, then later St. Nicholas Church in Santa Claus. Regina and Tyrus were inducted into the Diocese of Evansville Bruté society in 2003. She was a member of St. Anthony class of 1948 and was instrumental in planning their reunions for many years.

Her greatest loves were visiting with her family, quilting, playing Bingo and cards, and completing jigsaw puzzles. 

Regina is survived by her children, James (Teresa) Rumage, Lamar, Mike (Marsha) Rumage, Tiline, KY, Greg (Angie) Rumage, Dale, Elaine (Bill) Mitchell, Dresden, OH, Jeannine (David) Wise, Summerland Key, FL, Andrea (Rick) Meinert, Boonville, Jeff (Laura) Rumage, Frankfort, KY and Anita (Brian) Corne, Newburgh; her bonus children, Neil (Rita) Forler, Chrisney, Eric (Diane) Forler, Greenville and Celeste (Doug) Teaford, West Chester, OH; 33 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Lenora Mandel, Evansville; her sisters-in-law, Jenny Grose, Jerri Kempf, both of Evansville, Barbra Heneisen, Eureka, MO, Dorothy Beaven, Fenton, MO, Dodie (John) Alber, Apalachicola, FL and Judy Rumage, Madison; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the caregivers at St. Croix Hospice, Newburgh, Greg and Niki Turner, Santa Claus, and Joanie Casson, Santa Claus  for their invaluable support.

Services are 1 p.m. on Monday, January 22, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Santa Claus, with Father Christopher Forler officiating. 

Visitation is from 10 a.m.. until 1 p.m. Monday January 22, at  the church.

Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Croix Hospice or Cancer Pathways Midwest.
