James “Jim” Earl Shelby, 84, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his home.
Jim was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 10, 1939, to John and Mary (Gregory) Shelby.
Jim attended Woodlawn Methodist Church in Owensboro. He had served in the United States Marine Corps and was proud to be a marine. He had also worked at ALCOA, retiring after 31 years of service.
Jim was also a family man and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, “Mat” Toman.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Shelby; his children, Ryan Shelby, and Brandi Mounts and her husband, Will; his grandchildren, Tyler Shelby, Aria Shelby and Shelby Mounts; his siblings, Bill Shelby and his wife, Lavada, Mary Toman, and Julia Vinson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport has been entrusted with care. Friends may leave a condolence for the family at www.BoultinghouseFuneralHome.com.
