James “Jimmy” Henry Young III, 74, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, surrounded by his family.
Jimmy was born in Rockport on August 13, 1950, to Ura Mae Shourds and James Henry Young Jr.
Jimmy was a Vietnam War veteran before he was honorably discharged. After his time in the Army, Jimmy spent his time working construction and as a mechanic.
Jimmy loved playing video games, hunting, fishing, working on cars, and doing anything that allowed him to spend time with his kids and grandkids.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandson, Bentley Joseph Philhower.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Doris Young; his brother, Colin Mitchell Kelly of Grandview; his children, Diana Young of Chrisney, Jermey Young and his wife, Crystal, of Tell City, Jimmy Scales and his wife, Kristina, of Hatfield, Mike Vaugn and his wife, Tasha, of Chrisney, George “Pic” Philhower Jr. of Chrisney, Melissa Philhower and her boyfriend, Casey Gilbert, of Tell City; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and several nephews.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with James Rowe officiating.
Visitation is 12 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help cover funeral expenses.
