Richard Louis Hyland, 80, of Rockport, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his home.
Richard was born on September 15, 1944, in Anderson, to John and Edna Hyland.
Richard worked in the logistics field for many years with positions at Escalade Sports as logistics manager, and traffic manager at Shoe Carnival. He had also worked at Whirlpool in Evansville. Richard was a member of and served as past president of the Evansville Transportation Club. He helped on the family farm.
Richard enjoyed fitness; he ran marathons in his earlier years and enjoyed weightlifting. He also loved to fish and raise Irish Setter dogs. Richard was a sports fan and enjoyed all things I.U. He enjoyed Indy Car racing, attending many races over the years.
Richard always made time to attend his niece’s and nephew’s activities. Above all Richard’s work ethic was undeniable; he never slacked at anything, not at work, being a dedicated husband, loving father or supportive uncle and brother-in-law.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tom Hyland and Mike Hyland, and sister Patricia Fisher.
Richard is survived by his wife, Tammy Hyland; daughter Natalie (Logan) Tracy of Evansville; and sister Elizabeth Randolph, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport on Monday, November 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, November 12, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Rupert Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, at St. Rupert Catholic Church near Newburgh with Father Lowell Will officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
