Peggy Collignon, 76, of Rockport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, after a long illness.
Born on February 25, 1948, in Ohio County, Peggy was the cherished daughter of the late Opal and Dorothy Whitler.
For nearly 30 years, Peggy dedicated her professional life to Guardian Automotive in Evansville, where she worked in supply and inventory administration. Outside of her career, Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who brought warmth, laughter, and love to all who knew her. Her ability to find joy in life’s simplest moments and her lighthearted spirit made her a cherished presence in the lives of family and friends. Her memory will forever live on as a source of comfort and inspiration to many.
Known for her kind spirit and warm hospitality, Peggy cherished life’s simple pleasures — spending time with loved ones, decorating her home, tending to her garden, and savoring a good book. Above all, she took immense pride in her role as “Moppy”, a devoted grandmother who found her greatest joy in her grandchildren, the lights of her life.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Whitler.
Peggy leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Michael Collignon of Rockport; her children, Shelley Holland (William), Michael H. Collignon, and Jeff Collignon (Robyn), all of Owensboro, KY; her adored grandchildren, Jessica Holland, Rachel Settle (Isaac), Parker Collignon and Will Holland; and her brother, Elmer Whitler (June) of Mt. Vernon, KY.
Visitation for extended family will be held on Friday, January 24, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by a private chapel service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org/ in Peggy’s honor.
