Curtis Joseph King, 83, of New Boston, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Heart to Heart Hospice House in Evansville.
He was born on July 25, 1941, in Bristow, to Lowell and Louella (Esarey) King.
Curt married Marilyn Luecke on May 18, 1968, at St. John Chrysostom Church in New Boston. She passed away on February 1, 2000.
He married Betty Heeke on September 5, 2001, at the Loretto Chapel in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
Curt attended Bristow and Tell City high schools and graduated in 1959. A United States Army veteran, Curt served his country from 1963 to 1965. He was a lifelong member of the Saint Meinrad American Legion, the New Boston Volunteer Fire Department and was also a first responder.
He owned and operated a plumbing and electrical contracting business for 30 years. He later worked for PSC in St. Meinrad until retiring in 2004.
Curt enjoyed many hobbies over the years including raising and selling Christmas trees, beekeeping, and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He spent his retirement years raising cattle, gardening, working jigsaw puzzles, and watching birds from his front porch. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Heeke; daughter, Susan (Mark) Lautner; sons, Eric (Natalie) King and Christopher King; stepdaughter, Sheila (Wayne) Robertson; seven grandchildren, Anna, Mary, Ellen, and Carsten King, Thomas, Kate and Will Gilman; and four brothers, James, Ralph, Michael, and David.
In addition to his parents and his first wife Marilyn, Curt was preceded in death by a brother, Edward.
Curt was a great man who will be truly missed by all who knew him. In honoring his wishes there will be no visitation.
