James “Jim” Mehling, 76 of St. Meinrad, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 at his home.
Jim was born April 5, 1949 in St. Meinrad to Hubert and Alice (Maffenbeier) Mehling. Jim served in the United States Marines from 1968-1970. Jim was very patriotic and proud of his service to his country.
He enjoyed deer hunting and being with friends and family.
Jim is survived by three sisters, Thelma Ann Hunt of Gainesville, Georgia, Margie (Mike) Steckler of Huntingburg and Ruth (Ray) Fritz of Ferdinand, and one brother, Terry (Donna) Auffart of St. Meinrad.
Jim was preceded in death by both his parents and three brothers, Norman, Bernard and Stanley “Butter” Mehling.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 12 at 10 a.m. CST in St. Meinrad Catholic Church. Burial will follow at a later date. St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 will provide military honors.
