James “Jim” Wallenmeyer, 81, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his home in Lamar, surrounded by family.
He was born on January 26, 1945, to Ed and Mary (Hinton) Wallenmeyer.
Jim was a graduate of Fontbonne University where he earned his master’s in business. He had worked as an engineer at Chrysler, in St. Louis, for over 40 years. It was there that he formed lifelong friendships with co-workers who knew him as “Wally” and met his wife, Louise Barton.
Jim and Louise were married on March 28, 1999, and together, they lived life to the fullest. After retiring, they moved back to the family homeplace in Lamar, where Jim enjoyed fishing in their lake, hunting and woodworking. He looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored.
Jim was a member of Chrisney Baptist Church, a 65-year member of Odd Fellows and was a part of the “Bobby Michael Club” that was formed with his Chrysler work buddies.
Surviving is his wife, Louise Wallenmeyer; children, Matthew Wallenmeyer and Mark Wallenmeyer (Gina); stepchildren, Charlotte, Brian and Matt; Annie Wallenmeyer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 22, at Huber Funeral Home. Bill Reid officiated with burial following in Deer Creek Church Cemetery.
