Jerry “Gig” Giesler, age 77, of Jasper, passed away at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Heart-to-Heart Hospice House in Evansville, after a valiant fight with cancer for over 13 years.
Jerry was born in Huntingburg on August 15, 1948, to Carl “Bud” and Wilma (Brown) Giesler. He married Carol “Mamie” Mehringer on November 8, 1997, in Evansville.
He was a 1966 graduate of Jasper High School, where he lettered in baseball. He was on the Jasper Little League, Pony League, and Legion League. He then played for the Jasper Reds. He all-stared on several teams. After high school, he graduated from Lockyear’s Business College.
He had worked at Kimball for 25 years.
Jerry was a proficient builder and woodworker, enjoyed golfing, fishing, mowing on his John Deere tractor, and spending time with family, friends, and his dogs, Scotty and Squirt. In addition, he was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.
Survivors include his wife Carol “Mamie” Giesler, Jasper, one daughter, Jana Fontanez, Mt. Juliet, TN, one son, Brad Giesler, Santa Claus, two stepsons, Graham C. Gordon, Jasper and Grant C. Gordon, and significant other, Mike Fisch, Chandler, AZ, and two granddaughters.
One son Brandon Giesler, one stepson, Corey Gordon, a brother, Carl C. “Junie” Giesler and one sister, Emily Rasche preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Jerry “Gig” Giesler will be held at 1 p.m. EDT on Saturday, July 25, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
