Several incoming and returning elected officials from across the county opted to take their oaths of office at the Spencer County Courthouse Friday, December 27. Judge Jon Dartt was pleased to welcome these public servants and their families to his Courtroom for the occasion. He took his own oath of office in the historic building.

“This is a big day and a big deal,” said Dartt. “Public service is not for the weak. You’re not going to make everybody happy.”

He encouraged the assembled officials, both new and longtime veterans of the job, to take Abe Lincoln as an example of leadership. Specifically, to maintain a sense of humor along with perseverance and duty.
