Darrell Duane Ayer, 76, of Rockport, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Newburgh Healthcare.
Duane was born in Chrisney on March 6, 1943 to the late Clarence Ray Ayer and Irene (Wroe) Ayer.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired from Martin-Serrin Insurance Company in 2005.
Duane never met a stranger, was an avid Yankees fan, and loved his country home and yard, his horses, and his church. He will be missed by many family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlotte (Bretz) Ayer; his son, David Stuart Ayer; his siblings, Carol Baker (Bruce) of Newburgh, Sharon Szabo (Gene) of New Buffalo, MI, and Donald Ray Ayer (Lois) of Dale; many special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and two “almost grandsons”, Curtis and Ryan Turner.
Services for Darrell Ayer will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 124 S 5th St, Rockport, IN 47635, with Reverend Jill Kaetzel and Reverend Mike Turner officiating.
Visitation will take place from 1 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Spencer County CASA, or the charity of your choice.
