Debra J. Payne, known to many as Debbie, and Dangerous Deb to those who knew her well, age 67, of Rockport, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky. 

She was born on November 23, 1953, in Columbus, and grew up in Tin Town and Grandview.

Ms. Payne was a longtime resident of Spencer County. She spent 20 plus years working at Grandview Aluminum and was a long-time employee for Spencer County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandson, and extended family very much. She enjoyed playing cards, reading books, watching T.V. and in her younger years, playing softball.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Thelma Smith; and two nephews, Christopher Brown and Steven Raley.

Survivors include her children, Chad Smith (Taylor), Scott Payne (Tiffany) and Chrissy Anderson (Chris); grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Electra Smith and Logan Payne; great-grandson, Jordan Adams; sisters, Jenny Hamilton (Kenny) and Loretta Brown; brother, Gary Smith (Cindy); nieces, Melissa Meredith, Gina Hale, Amy Meredith and Kimberly Pounds; nephews, Daniel Smith, John Michael Meredith, Andrew Smith and Matthew Brown; long-time friends, Nancy Schaefer Myers and Richie Coomes.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. 

Visitation is 12 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
