Delia Allen Taylor Gerlanc, 74, of Dale, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born December 4, 1945, in Cypress. Her parents were Edward Winslow and Mary O’Connor Taylor and they preceded her in death.
Delia traveled the world with her parents during much of her childhood. After settling in Washington, D.C., Delia met and married Milan Don Gerlanc, then moved to Evansville to raise their daughters. She completed her master’s in psychology at the University of Evansville in 1985 and provided individual and family counseling in the area until her retirement. Delia also loved the theatre and spent many hours around the Shanklin Theatre Department while working on her master’s. She was loved for her wit, humor, expert storytelling, and compassion. She made friends with everyone she met and made them feel like family. Delia enjoyed crossword puzzles and coffee with her family. She loved elephants, mani-pedis, watching cartoons with her grandchildren, going for long drives with family and the Tristate Corvette Club, and Thanksgiving vacations to Ocean City, MD. She was an avid fan of murder mysteries, Wild Wild West, Bat Masterson, The Lone Ranger, old horror movies and especially Neil Diamond and Neil Simon, but mostly being with family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Nicole Marie Gerlanc of Maryland and Danielle Marie Gerlanc of Evansville; her partner, Dennis William Gries of Dale; and grandchildren, Devin TM Taylor, Keagan Paul Kumar, Payton Edward Kumar and Dalton Allen Kumar.Â
