OWI arrest
At approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 29, Ferdinand Police were called about a possible drunk driver southbound on SR 162 into Ferdinand from the Bretzville Junction area. Police stopped the vehicle in question, a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup, and investigated the driver, 41-year-old Heather Durcholz of Ferdinand. After it was determined she had been drinking, Durcholz was transported to the Jasper Police Department for further investigation. She was also administered a chemical test, which showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.11. Durcholz was charged with operating while intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor, and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center. She was also cited for driving left of center.

Woman charged with knife attack
Jasper Police were contacted by Memorial Hospital on November 27 in reference to a male patient who had suffered a laceration to his neck. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a domestic violence incident had occurred on the evening of November 26 and that 25-year-old Gina Kieffner of Jasper had used a knife to cause the injury to the male victim’s neck. Kieffner was arrested on charges of attempted voluntary manslaughter (level 2 felony), criminal recklessness, aggravated battery, domestic battery, and battery. She was lodged in the Security Center.
