Landry told authorities he did not see the Freightliner, and Sanders was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting Landry’s car. OWI arrest

Jasper Police responded to the intersection of 36th and Manor Drive at 11:11 p.m. on June 11, in reference to a possible intoxicated male lying in the road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found 54-year-old Jacquelyn Sala attempting to pick up the male in a 2004 Honda Accord. According to police, the caller who tipped them off reported Sala had fallen to the ground while exiting the vehicle before police arrived. The Accord was left in reverse and began rolling backwards, but the caller was able to stop it. Upon further investigation officers determined Sala was under the influence of alcohol and prescription pills; she was taken to Memorial Hospital for a blood sample and later arrested for operating while intoxicated.
